Fit-for-Me Foundation, Inc., forms partnership with The Transition Resource Action Center (TRAC)--Preparation for Adult Living (PAL) for young people.
DALLAS, TX, November 16, 2006 – Fit-for-Me Foundation, Inc., today announced that it has partnered with The Transition Resource Action Center (TRAC)-- Preparation for Adult Living (PAL) to participate in speaking engagements on fitness & wellness in various locations around the DFW area.
"Fitness & wellness are two components of our life skills classes that are so important to our young people,” said Carly Ryan, PAL Training Assistant. “Having Don-Miguel present to our class awakened the students about the challenges and opportunities that are in front of them when it comes to their health and well-being."
"My hope is that we can form a close partnership so that long-term results can
be analyzed and achieved in regard to physical health and wellness of young
people. Goal-setting, mentoring, empowerment and guidance are essential to
ensuring young people live healthy lives and pass on that richness to the next
generation. I believe that Fit-for-Me Foundation can lay the foundation for a
stronger and healthier tomorrow," added Carly Ryan.
Carly also noted, “The group of young people we work with (foster kids) might
not ever have learned about balanced diets, the importance of exercise and the
benefits to the physical and emotional being, nor have they learned about the
tangible things they can do to take charge of their bodies and lead healthier
lives. In partnership with Fit-for-Me Foundation, I believe we can reach these
young people before it’s too late.” Don-Miguel commented, “This is a belief that
TRAC and Fit-for-Me Foundation, Inc. both share from a short and long term
view.”
The Transition Resource Action Center (TRAC) is a one-stop center that offers access to affordable housing, livable-wage jobs and a safety net for young adults transitioning out of substitute care. TRAC operates as a program of Central Dallas Ministries.
Fit-for-Me Foundation’s mission is to advocate and advance physical fitness & wellness throughout one’s life by educating and mentoring the young people in America (K- through college). Together with major philanthropic institutions and corporations, the foundation seeks to bring physical fitness & wellness resources and programs, underlining the obesity epidemic, to the young people of the Greater Dallas metro community.

Fit-for-Me Foundation, Inc. Announces Formation of Dallas-based Nonprofit Dedicated to Serving Young People
DALLAS, TX, May 10, 2006 – Fit-for-Me Foundation, Inc., created in March 2006 by Don-Miguel, founder of Don Miguel Fitness, is recognized as a nonprofit public charity under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The foundation’s mission is to advocate and advance physical fitness & wellness throughout one’s life by educating and mentoring the young people in America (K- through college). Together with major philanthropic institutions and corporations, the foundation seeks to bring physical fitness & wellness resources and programs, underlining the obesity epidemic, to the young people of the Greater Dallas metro community.
Fit-for-Me Foundation’s vision involves appointing representatives from the fitness & wellness community, such as aerobics instructors, personal trainers and managers, massage therapists, sports figures, and celebrities, who volunteer their time and experience by speaking with students concerning overall health, fitness & wellness career possibilities, and motivation to pursue and maintain a healthy lifestyle. “I believe that it is our responsibility to step up to the plate and use our most valuable resources - people who can and will make a difference on an ongoing basis and who also see this as a fantastic opportunity to simply give back,” remarks Don-Miguel, President & CEO.
"The Fit-for-Me Foundation sees physical fitness & wellness as the next frontier of how to invest in young people to help them reach higher educational and personal fitness goals. Considering that young people are becoming more obese, I believe that a community approach, focused on involvement in activities, is the key to developing the health and well-being of a physically-fit individual. So I am appealing to a wide range of partners and sponsors for support in furthering the foundation’s programs and services," notes Don-Miguel.
Fit-for-Me Foundation’s goals are to: (1) recognize the value of young people and education in our communities; (2) provide a comprehensive formula to lead better and healthier lives, including direction and incentives to work out, via speaking engagements by current fitness & wellness experts, sports figures and celebrities; (3) create awareness of career opportunities available in the fitness & wellness industry; (4) provide real-life experience in varying professional paths in the fitness & wellness industry through internships and other programs; and (5) develop concrete plans for the pursuit of further education or a career in the fitness & wellness field. As the number of young people served by the programs increases, the foundation hopes to encourage and direct more public financing for fitness & wellness programs.
Fit-for-Me Foundation welcomes partners and sponsors who are committed to investing substantial funds to fitness & wellness initiatives, in accordance with the foundation’s mission, purpose, and goals, over the next 4 years. The foundation expects to raise approximately $2.7 million during this time.
